After having us dance last summer with hot girl bummer (certified platinum in the United States), blackbear (Interscope / Polydor) is back this week with the queen of broken hearts‘ video. The American singer, songwriter and producer from Palm Coast in Florida delivers a new summer bop with deeper lyrics than excepted. “I made this song about social media ruling my life and drastically changing the course of my daily mental health, anxiety, and determining a lower sense of self-esteem causing me to be an asshole sometimes” he explained on his Twitter account. For this video that he produced himself, the 29-year-old artist invited the young actress McKenna Grace (seen in the Netflix series The Haunting of Hill House and in Annabelle and Captain Marvel movies) to lip-sync the words of his song. There, we see the teenager going through a veritable descent into hell in her bedroom because of the pressure that social networks can create.
Discovered by the public in 2012 after co-writing Justin Bieber’s song Boyfriend in collaboration with Mike Posner (who forms with him the duo Mansionz), blackbear has always been very productive and has already released five studio albums, six EPs, a mixtape and two collaborative albums. The singer now generates nearly 21 million monthly streams on Spotify and will release his new studio album everything means nothing in two parts on July 17th and August 21st.
