Summer is coming to an end but Tawsen continues to raise the temperature… While school, work, and autumn are approaching, the Belgian singer and rapper has just released the sunny video for Sailor Moon, named in tribute to Usagi Tsukino, heroine of the 90s manga. Tawsen switches in between French and Spanish on this reggaeton sound, while the director BLEUNUIT takes us to the French Riviera. We sway in rhythm in front of our screen, our eyes fixed on the model Alice Pinto, the singer’s love interest.
Discovered in 2017 after a notable appearance on the Belgian version of the hip-hop show Rentre dans le cercle, Tawsen has since released two EPs, Al Mawja (2019) and Al Warda (2020) and it’s clear that the artist doesn’t fit into the traditional musical boxes. Born in Italy, Tawsen grew up in Belgium. The young artist of 23 years old also has Moroccan origins and has created his own universe influenced by these three different cultures: he describes himself as a true “musical sponge”. Playing with urban pop, rap, and even raï, the communication student started music in 2015 and has today entrusted his career to Anissa Jalad (manager of fellow Belgian rapper Damso) and Universal Music. By dealing with universal subjects like love, melancholy, and contradictions, Tawsen asserts himself as a sincere and unfiltered artist, creating music without borders. A 3rd EP and a studio album are currently in the pipeline.
