A little over ten years after their last appearance in France as a group, the Jonas Brothers have found their way back to the stage of the AccorHotel Arena, in Paris. Their last concert in the capital was on November 26, 2009 but Joe, Nick & Kevin were ready to find an audience that had not forgotten them.
The show began with Rollercoaster, from their latest album Happiness Begins. The three brothers immediately set the tone with an entrance that blew our minds, immediately following up with S.O.S, the record from their second studio album Jonas Brothers which got them a spot at the forefront of the scene in 2007 (yes, you read that right, 2007, we are getting old!). The audience did not miss a bit, nor a word from the chorus and everyone was singing their hearts out. The show went on with Cool & Only Human, both released last year. We could tell there had been an effort to intertwine both old and new songs such as That’s Just The Way We Roll (2007), Fly With Me (2009) & I Believe (2019). The group also took the opportunity to showcase their latest single What A Man Gotta Do and it was a complete success! Apparently, Nick Jonas has also revealed that a successor to Happiness Begins is already in the making, so stay tuned….
On the b-stage, which was set up at the back of the crowd, the trio had prepared more of an emotional sequence starting with Hesitate. Joe took the opportunity to reflect back on their last trip to France as a band and thanked their fans for sticking with them through the years. A beautiful proof of the love that’s still there even after a decade. And as if those words had not already made everyone emotional, the singers then followed with the touching Gotta Find You from the iconic Camp Rock movie released in 2008.
But before everyone went too deep in their feelings, the group was already back on the main stage performing a family version of the colorful Cake by the Ocean, by Joe Jonas’ former band DNCE which he created after he left the Jonas Brothers.. Then comes the eagerly awaited When You Look Me In The Eyes. Most of the fans were excited to finally hear this song live again, but they also had organized a secret project and recreated a massive French flag throughout the Arena! The show then went on with a throwback medley, with songs as old as Mandy, Hold Onor World War III.
The show seemed way too short compared to the ten years of waiting that we had all endured but it had to come to an end as the band walks back on the main stage to sing their biggest hit Burnin Up. Not to brag but Nick actually sang that “red dress!” part, (you know, THAT one) which he had not actually done yet on the Happiness Begins Tour. A proper treat for the French crowd if you ask us. As 11pm came around, it was finally time for us to leave, the Jonas Brothers waving a final goodbye with the song that marked their big come back in 2019: Sucker.
Favorite songs live: Mandy, Year 3000, What A Man Gotta Do
